Highways are usually free during the Chinese New Year. During the Spring Festival, the country generally issues policies to waive tolls on expressways to ensure normal travel during the Spring Festival.
For ordinary toll roads, the time is based on the time when the vehicle passes through the toll station toll lane, and on the expressway, the time is based on the time when the vehicle leaves the exit toll lane. For example, during the Spring Festival in 2021, vehicles can enjoy the toll-free policy as long as they leave the expressway exit from 0:00 on February 11 to 24:00 on February 17. They do not need to wait until 0:00 on February 11 to enter the toll station to avoid entrance congestion.
The scope of vehicles with free passage on expressways is passenger vehicles with less than 7 seats (including 7 seats) traveling on toll roads, including motorcycles that are allowed to drive on ordinary toll roads.
Highway
Pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles are not allowed to enter the highway. Tractors, wheeled special motor vehicles, articulated buses, full-trailer trucks, and other motor vehicles with a designed maximum speed of less than 70 kilometers per hour are not allowed to enter the highway. Even if the designed maximum speed of motor vehicles not subject to the above restrictions exceeds 70 kilometers per hour, but their actual driving speed does not reach 60 kilometers per hour, they are not allowed to drive on the highway.
Expressways should indicate the driving speed of the lane. Although vehicles that cannot reach a speed of 60 kilometers per hour are not allowed to enter the expressway, it does not mean that they can drive at any high speed on the expressway. To ensure safety, the law still sets an upper limit, and the maximum speed must not exceed 120 kilometers per hour.
