Chongqing’s one-hour economic circle refers to the main cities of Chongqing including Yuzhong District, Dadukou District, Jiangbei District, Shapingba District, Jiulongpo District, Nan’an District, Beibei District, Yubei District, and Banan District. District 9 is the core, and 21 districts and counties (Tongnan, Hechuan, Tongliang, Dazu, Rongchang, Yongchuan, Shuangqiao, Bishan, Jiangjin, Qijiang, Wansheng, Nanchuan, Fuling, Changshou) are covered within one hour’s traffic range wait). It is the primary development area of Chongqing in the future.
1. Strong districts and counties are all within the one-hour economic circle
The agglomeration of production factors is an inevitable result of economic development. Chongqing’s strong districts and counties are concentrated in an 80KM circle. 80KM is the spatial radius and commuting distance. When converted into time, it is the “one-hour economic circle” popular in many cities.
Within one hour’s commuting distance, most of the city’s production activities are basically gathered. It is also the maximum travel radius that many office workers can accept and is the boundary of the city.
The special thing about Chongqing is that it is not square, but extends in a long and narrow block shape along the northeast and southeast directions. This makes the connection between Northeast Chongqing and Southeast Chongqing very inconvenient to the main city, and they are outside the radiation range of the main city.
After direct control, Chongqing divided the city into three major areas based on this topographic structure and development pattern, namely the urban economic development circle, the Yuxi Economic Corridor and the Three Gorges Reservoir Area Ecological Economic Zone.
Specifically, the urban economically developed circle includes Yuzhong District, Dadukou District, Jiangbei District, Shapingba District, Jiulongpo District, Nan'an District, Beibei District, Yubei District, and Banan District, that is, the main District 9 of the city.
The West Chongqing Economic Corridor includes Jiangjin District, Hechuan District, Yongchuan District, Nanchuan District, Qijiang District, Dazu District, Bishan District, Tongliang District, Tongnan District and Rongchang District, which is the ring main city 10 District;
The Three Gorges Reservoir Area Ecological Economic Zone includes the remaining 19 districts and counties in northeastern and southeastern Chongqing.
This classification reflects the spatial distribution of Chongqing’s economy very clearly. The radiation range of the 9 districts in the main city is more oriented towards western Chongqing, so the concept of the western Chongqing Economic Corridor will be introduced.
Although western Chongqing and eastern Sichuan were once regarded as subsidence zones of the Chongqing urban agglomeration, their advantages compared with northeastern and southeastern Chongqing are still obvious. For example, reports have mentioned in the past two days that Rongchang District Industrial Ranked first in Chongqing in terms of operation.
2. The one-hour economic circle gathers nearly 80% of GDP
In 2006, Chongqing proposed the development strategy of "one circle and two wings". The "circle" is the one-hour economic circle, which is also the place where the population and economy are most concentrated. The statistical yearbook also adds statistics on the one-hour economic circle.
The specific scope includes 9 districts in the main city and 12 districts and counties surrounding the main city, including Yongchuan, Jiangjin, and Hechuan. According to the traditional classification, it is the urban economically developed circle, plus the Yuxi Economic Corridor, plus Fuling District and Changshou District.
The two wings are the northeast wing of Chongqing (11 districts and counties) and the southeast wing of Chongqing (6 districts and counties).
In 2006, the ratio of GDP per capita between the "One Ring" and the "Two Wings" was 2.5 to 1. The goal set at that time was to form one megacity and five cities by 2020 through one ring and two wings. An urban system of large cities, 7 medium-sized cities, and several small cities.
In 2013, Chongqing adjusted its planning and split the three major areas of "one circle and two wings" into five major functional areas. However, no matter how the division changes, the one-hour economic circle is the core, and Chongqing inside and outside the circle is completely It's two worlds.
The Chongqing one-hour economic circle has a permanent population of 19.6266 million, accounting for 64.38% of the city; the GDP in 2016 was 1,355.308 billion, accounting for 77.18% of the city.
Within the one-hour economic circle, it can actually be divided into two small circles with the main city as the boundary. District 9 of the main city accounts for a quarter of the city's permanent population and contributes nearly half of the GDP. In 2017, the GDP of Yuzhong, Yubei and Jiulongpo all exceeded 100 billion.
